Immigrant Grapes: Odyssey of Forbidden Wines

Edició Most 2026

About the movie

The film follows ampelographer Lucie Morton, known as the “grape sleuth,” on her mission to repatriate the Cunningham grape to its place of origin in Virginia’s Tidewater region, driven by a shared ancestral bond.

A back-to-the-future tale of European and American vines driven out of America and outlawed in Europe, which have survived thanks to those who continue to cultivate them. Like Odysseus, this grape crossed many seas before finding its way home.

Immigrant Grapes: Odyssey of Forbidden Wines is a story of exile, resilience and the enduring search for home.
